Oh yah, 2004 GC Limited with 8cyl and factory tow package. Last week I removed my instrument cluster to fix some bad indicator needles and in the process had the battery (both terminals) unhooked for about 1/2 hour. Everything seemed to be okay except the key fob will not lock/unlock the doors, however it will start the vehicle remotely. Jeep
Key fob malfunction. Unfortunately key fobs are a bit more complex than a good old-fashioned key. If the battery isn't the culprit, you'll need to take the fob to your dealer to get it diagnosed.
The key is, that RFID chip has to be within inches of the antenna to generate the power.
